A good place to work. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in BNP Paribas.
In BNP Paribas Group diversity and equal opportunity are our key values. A proactive policy in favour of equality is promoted, creating an environment that is based on equality, respectful for everyone, and fighting discrimination.
The Group fosters proactive initiatives and commitments in five major areas:
– Professional equality between women and men
– Disability
– Multiculturalism and diversity of origins
– Gender and LGBTQIA+
– Age and intergenerational relations
To enforce that commitment, every year in October, the BNP Paribas Group organises globally the Inclusions Days, highlighting an even brighter spotlight on the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in building a workplace where everyone can thrive. A global Pulse survey on Conduct and Inclusion is also performed by the Group.
This year it is no different. In BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking Poland (CIB), the Inclusion Days were carefully planned and promoted in a dedicated campaign. We designed and built an intranet website, specially created for the campaign, where everyone could learn about the details of the upcoming initiative. We prepared an entire schedule of webinars and workshops for our employees to choose from. The events were arranged and conducted by communities and networks actively working in our Organisation. All of them were dedicated to further increasing of diversity, equity, and inclusion awareness.
Among those valuable events strengthening the proactive approach towards inclusion, there was the “Neurodiversity as diversity in human cognition” webinar organised by MixCity, our network of exchange for women and men who wish to advance professional equality and create inclusive and open space of work with the main goal to create inclusive and open space to exchange the ideas regarding equality between women and men and work together on creating an environment with no ”double standards”.
The webinar was led by a psychologist and psychotherapist. The expert presented how neurodiversity enriches our workforce by bringing unique talents and perspectives. It also enforced promoting the culture of inclusiveness, equity, and diverse thinking.
Apart from workshops and webinars, our PRIDE network organised a Dialogue Skills Training. Through this activity, we wanted to show that it is perfectly fine to have a different opinion and that a dialogue and an approach respecting each other’s opinion is a key to understanding the other side’s point of view. The workshop was addressed to everyone who wants to learn about dialogue and communication skills.
We believe that networks and communities are crucial for building an environment that is employee’s ally. All Abroad is one of the networks that supports foreigners working in our Organisation. The representation is numerous – we have 52 nationalities in our company and through the community we are fostering our proactive approach towards multiculturalism and diversity of origins area. The “Multicultural Communications” workshop’s intention was to focus on increasing the awareness of cultural differences and on tolerance and acceptance – two factors indispensable for building an environment which respects and values other cultures.
Last but not least, BNP Paribas CIB Poland was a Local Partner of ABSL, sending 2 speakers to D&I roundtable on “The many shades of belonging and engagement”, lively discussions on how our company is promoting inclusion on a daily basis.
One must remember that pursuing diversity, equity, and inclusion is never complete. It is always a constant learning journey, a process that is being shaped and adjusted every day. In BNP Paribas we tailor our actions, our mindset, and our approach to achieve what we committed to and what is best for our employees.
